Late writer-actor Shiv Subramaniam's last co-stars Abhimanyu Dassani and Sanya Malhotra shared tributes to him on Monday. Mr Subramaniam was cremated on Monday; no cause of death has been revealed. Shiv Subramaniam was last seen in the 2021 film Meenakshi Sundareshwar, playing a Tamil patriarch. The film starred Sanya and Abhimanyu as the titular Meenakshi and Sundareshwar, a young married couple separated for work. In a tweet posted on Monday, Abhimanyu shared a still of himself and Shiv Subramaniam from the film. "So kind, so gentle, witty and caring. Rest in peace Shiv sir. Will cherish the evening walks with you. Rest in peace," he tweeted.

Sanya Malhotra also shared a film still of herself and Shiv Subramaniam on her Instagram Stories. "You have left some wonderful memories that will never fade," she wrote.

Shiv Subramaniam was admired and respected for his work on films like Parinda, which he acted in and also co-wrote. Anil Kapoor, who worked with Mr Subramaniam in Parinda and TV show 24, tweeted: "I had the opportunity to work with Shiv first in Parinda and then in 24 and both the times he was exceptional. An excellent actor who will be truly missed…my heartfelt condolences to the family."
Shiv Subramaniam's writing credits also include Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin and Chameli, all co-written with director Sudhir Mishra. The last film Mr Subramaniam wrote was 2010's Teen Patti.
Shiv Subramaniam's best-known work as an actor was his role as Alia Bhatt's father in 2 States.
