- Ramayana's combined budget for both parts is approximately Rs 4,000 crore
Ranbir Kapoor's first look from Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming film Ramayana was unveiled on April 2, drawing widespread attention from fans. Actor Vindu Dara Singh, whose father Dara Singh famously portrayed Lord Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar's television series Ramayana, has now reacted to the teaser.
What Vindu Dara Singh Said
Sharing his views after watching the teaser, Vindu said he found it better than Adipurush and also offered advice to the makers on areas where they should exercise caution.
Speaking to the DNA, the actor said, "It looks spectacular, very beautiful. But there is a strict rule. Jo Ramayan Ramanand Sagar ji ki bane hai, woh hum sabke dil-o-dimaag poori fit hai. Woh jo Ramayan hai, woh historic hai, number one hai. Agar yeh picture uske saath match ho gayi, then it will be superhit. It will be a record-breaking hit. Kuch bhi deviation agar ki, jaise is mein woh khatarnaak (asur) se dikh rahe hai, toh agar zyada upar-neeche kiya (The Ramayan made by Ramanand Sagar ji is deeply ingrained in all our hearts and minds. That Ramayan is historic, it is number one. If this film manages to match up to that, then it will be a superhit. It will be a record-breaking hit. But if there is any deviation at all, like how they are showing him looking dangerous like an asur here, if they change too much), people will not accept it."
He also said that Nitesh Tiwari's vision for Ramayana appears far more impressive than Prabhas's Adipurush.
"Yeh jitna bhi dekha hai, usse to bahut better lag rahi hai. Woh toh pata nahi kya tha. Main trailer dekh ke samaj gaya tha ki yeh flop hogi. Kya hi chal raha tha. You can't deviate so much and have Hanuman ji saying all these dialogues (From whatever I've seen so far, this looks much better than that. I don't even know what that was. I could tell just by watching the trailer that it was going to flop. What on earth was going on? You can't deviate so much and then have Hanuman ji saying all those dialogues)," he said.
About Ramayana
Ramayana has been made on a staggering budget of Rs 4,000 crore.
Speaking to Prakhar Gupta, producer Namit Malhotra said, "When we set out to make this six or seven years ago, people thought I was a lunatic because no Indian film comes close to this scale. Put simply, the budget will be around $500 million for both parts combined, which is over Rs 4,000 crore."
He added, "We're making the largest film in the world for the greatest epic that deserves to be seen globally. And yet, I believe we're doing it more efficiently than some of the biggest Hollywood films. We're not being irresponsible-we're being ambitious, but grounded."
A. R. Rahman and Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer have collaborated on the project for the first time. Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey, Yash and Sunny Deol are also part of this large-scale production.
