- "Nope to Kevin Spacey's statement," said one Twitter user
Here are some reactions to Kevin Spacey' statement:
Kevin Spacey coming out as gay to distract everyone from the fact that he just got exposed as a child molester... what in the living hell— drew (@foolsIikeyou) October 30, 2017
Kevin Spacey "came out" so the media can focus on that instead of his predatory behaviour pic.twitter.com/zcpTAuwLUC— litgitte bardot (@MimieZaforas) October 30, 2017
Nope to Kevin Spacey's statement. Nope. There's no amount of drunk or closeted that excuses or explains away assaulting a 14-year-old child.— Dan Savage (@fakedansavage) October 30, 2017
My gay son & his friends fight stereotypes constantly - shame on you Kevin Spacey for linking assaulting a minor with coming out as gay.— Sherri (@SociallySherri) October 30, 2017
kevin spacey's statement just made my blood run cold— michael (@salmancushty) October 30, 2017
In his statement, Kevin Spacey wrote: "I'm horrified beyond words to hear his story. I honesty do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour." He added: "This story has encouraged me to address other things in my life... I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I now choose to live life as a gay man."
