In Poll-Bound Britain, Apache Indian Sings of an Election Crisis

A still from Apache Indian's Election Crisis

New Delhi: As Britain goes to polls on May 7, UK rapper Apache Indian has urged voters to make the right choices in his new single Election Crisis.

The song touches on election issues of unemployment and curtailments to public services.

The singer says, "The song wasn't easy to write but I felt it was important to write a song about the elections to raise the issues that need to be raised! People either are confused about who to vote for or just not bothered about politics in general."

Real name Steven Kapur, Apache Indian was among the earliest artists of Asian origin to make an impact on the UK charts. The 47-year-old musician shot to fame in the Nineties with a series of hits such as Chok There, Don Raja, Arranged Marriage and Boom Shack-A-Lak (which featured in the Dumber & Dumber movies). His fusion of reggae and bhangra was an instant hit with listeners.
