Ahead of the release of Yash's much-awaited film Toxic, the makers hosted a grand event at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad on Saturday (August 22). At the event, Yash urged the student fraternity to dream big and work towards their goals whole-heartedly.
He also asked them to take the onus of failure on themselves instead of blaming the world. Most importantly, Yash said cinema shouldn't be taken "seriously".
As Toxic has courted controversy for its "bold" content since its trailer release, did Yash's words sound cautionary?
The words became instantly viral on social media.
Yash said (translated): "Never take cinema seriously. We haven't achieved anything special. Whatever you want to do in life, dream it and work towards it. You will get respect and success. If we fail in something, don't blame the world. Only we are responsible."

The Accident
A large sound box setup fell into the crowd at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad, leaving two students injured on Satuday.
The accident happened while Yash was on stage speaking to a large gathering of students. The actor quickly noticed the disturbance and stopped his address to check on those affected. "Are they okay? Please check," he said from the stage, asking the organisers and security team to look into the situation.
Police personnel at the venue also stepped in and rushed the two injured students to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident also led Yash to take note of another safety concern in the crowd. Some students had climbed onto structures around the venue to get a better look at the actor. Yash stopped again and asked them to come down, pointing out that it was unsafe.
About Toxic
The film was scheduled to release on June 4 after skipping its mega clash with Dhurandhar: The Revenge on March 19.
The makers issued a statement saying they pushed back the release date as the Middle East conflict arose.
Yash said the film would now arrive on a "globally aligned date" as they were floored with an "overwhelming global response" at CinemaCon.
The statement read, "There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic has been one such journey. Presenting our film at CinemaCon and witnessing the overwhelming global response reaffirmed what we have always believed-that this film deserves to reach its fullest potential worldwide."
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups is produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. Written and shot in Kannada and English, it will have dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film boasts a stellar cast including Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth.
