Anil Kapoor: Content of Regional Films, Especially Marathi, is Excellent

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has lauded Marathi film Manatlya Unhat, which has been written by a senior officer of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The Dil Dhadakne Do actor said it was a major contribution to the rising graph of Marathi cinema.

"From what I have seen in the film, I can say that this is a stupendous work and effort. The film has been made with passion," he said at the film's music launch event.

Written by Wing Commander Sanjay Patil, the film, which features three National Award-winning actors, is slated for release on July 24.

"The content of regional films, especially that of Marathi films, is excellent," Mr Kapoor said. He also recalled acting in a Marathi film by late Laxmikant Berde. "I began my career with regional films," he said.

The film deals with travails of parents who make sacrifices to ensure their children have good upbringing and quality education, and support them in realising their dreams in life. "It is inspired from the pains my parents took for my upbringing and education," said Wing Commander Sanjay Patil. The film features Kishor Kadam, Mitali Jagtap and Hansraj Jagtap, a child artist.

"Each one of us have certain dreams and we strive hard to turn our dreams into reality," he said. "For accomplishing our dreams, we get the support of our parents who work hard to ensure we get best of education which has become very costly now-a-days. Do the children who run around to fulfil their own dreams even pause and give a thought to the aspirations of their parents? Do they ponder if their parents have realized their dreams? The film deals with these issues," he said.

Manatlya Unhat is produced by Vijayshree Patil of Anand Sagar Productions. This is the first film under this banner and is directed by Pandurang Jadhav.

"I liked the story narrated to me by Sanjay Patil and I felt the film has a good message for the youth of today and I am sure it will be liked by everyone," Pandurang said.

Kailash Waghmare, who has acted in critically acclaimed play Shivaji Underground in Bhimnagar Mohalla also stars in the movie, apart from Sameer Dharmadhikari, Nagesh Bhosle, Ruchita Jadhav, Chhaya Kadam and child actors Manthan Patil and Oveshikha Patil.
