Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has had to cancel last-minute promotions of his production Peepli Live as he is down with fever.

"Am feeling very helpless lying in bed a few days before the release. All the last lap interviews and promotions are cancelled :-( doomed (sic)," Aamir wrote on his Facebook page today.

Peepli Live, a satire on the farmers' suicides and the subsequent media and political response, releases on August 13.

The 44-year-old actor, who returned from Melbourne on Saturday morning, was running a 103 degree temperature and had to cancel his scheduled live chat on Facebook as he had no strength to travel to the venue.

"Guys I am most disappointed, I am down with very heavy fever, 103. Returned from Melbourne this morning with fever and was in bed all day to try and recover before tonight. But I have been hit hard this time. Won't be able to make it for the chat especially as I have to travel to Chembur for it," he wrote in an earlier post.

The actor has also expressed concern for the flood-hit Druk Pema School in Leh where the last few scenes of his blockbuster movie 3 Idiots were shot. 15 km from Leh town on the Leh-Manali highway, the school was virtually washed away after two cloudbursts led to flash floods in the region on Friday.

"Very shocked and distressed to hear about the school we shot in Leh for 3i. Trying to get in touch with the Principal. I suppose the communications are down too," wrote Aamir.
