Won't withdraw nomination from Barmer, says Jaswant Singh
Jaisalmer: BJP leader Jaswant Singh, who filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Barmer in Rajasthan after his party of three decades did not let him contest from the constituency of his choice today ruled out reconsidering his decision.

"No senior leader of the BJP has contacted me on this issue (withdrawal of nomination). I am not going to withdraw," Mr Singh told reporters in Jaisalmer today.

The BJP decided to field new joinee and former Congress leader Sonaram Chaudhary from the seat after Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje reportedly pitched for the Jat leader as a candidate who is more likely to win.

However, there was speculation that the BJP was in touch with Mr Singh him to convince him to withdraw from the race.

Today is the last date for withdrawal of nomination in the constituency which is going to polls on April 17.
