Ahmedabad: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, who is accompanying his party chief Arvind Kejriwal on a four-day tour of Gujarat, has alleged that his car was attacked by BJP workers today.

"Our car attacked by bjp goons in Himmatnagar (Sabarkantha).. If BJP leaders think they can hide corruption in Gujarat by attacking my car, then they are underestimating the power of Aam Gujarati (sic)," Mr Sisodia tweeted tonight.

The Gujarat Police has denied that such an attack took place. "Sisodia's car wasn't stopped anywhere, there was no attack. If someone threw a stone, we will investigate," Chirag Koradia, Superintendent of Police, Sabarkantha, said.

Yesterday, Mr Kejriwal's car was attacked and its windshield smashed by protesters who AAP alleges were BJP workers, as he drove through Kutch.

The state police said that that Mr Kejriwal refused to press charges, but it has filed a case and formed two teams to identify and locate the vandals. No one has been arrested so far.

Mr Kejriwal says he is in Gujarat to check on the claims of uber-development brandished by Narendra Modi, the BJP"s candidate for prime minister, who has governed the state since 2001. So far, Mr Kejriwal says, he has seen no evidence of the clean and effective governance that Mr Modi offers as his main qualification for running the country.

Yesterday, the AAP chief was detained briefly by the Gujarat Police in the western town of Radhanpur, 170 km from Ahmedabad. The detention triggered clashes between AAP workers and members of the BJP in Delhi and Lucknow. Around 30 people were injured.  (Day 1 of Gujarat road-show bumpy for Arvind Kejriwal)

The Delhi Police, in its report to the Election Commission, has said that AAP members had instigated the violence that erupted into a full-blown riot at the BJP office. Senior AAP leaders Ashutosh and Shazia Ilmi were questioned by the police today about the clash.

Mr Kejriwal has appealed to his party workers not to indulge in violence.
