New Delhi:

While there is a jump in the number of woman MPs this time as compared to the 14th Lok Sabha, it seems to have more MPs with criminal records. Here is a look at the strengths and weaknesses of this Lok sabha:

In the 15th Lok Sabha there are 150 MPs with criminal records, which is 22 more than last time.

  • There are twice as many crorepati MPs as compared to last time. The number this time is 300.
  • As far as woman candidates are concerned, though this is the best since Independence, there are 59 woman MPs -- 14 more than last time.
  • The average age of MPs is about the same as in the last Parliament -- 53 years. But it is seven years more than the first Lok Sabha.
  • In this Lok Sabha while there are 79 MPs who are aged below 40, Ram Sunder Das is the oldest MP aged 88 years and Hamulla Sayeed is the youngest at 26.
