The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences is expected to release the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Postgraduate (PG) answer key 2026 anytime soon on its official website, natboard.edu.in.  

The Supreme Court on September 3 dismissed a PIL that sought to re-conduct the NEET PG 2026 exam, as it pulled up and imposed a cost on the petitioner and the advocate for filing such a petition, according to a report by the Press Trust of India (PTI).

A bench of Justices PS Narasimha and Alok Aradhe said it will ask the Bar Council of India to take action against the lawyer for misuse of the process of law.

The petitioner sought re-examination for all students, alleging there was a violation of a May 2025 order wherein the court mandated that the NEET-PG be conducted in a single shift.

The bench imposed the cost of Rs 25,000 on the petitioner.

The lawyer contended that around 2,500 candidates could not complete their exams in Jaipur due to an internal power outage, and the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences conducted a second exam for these candidates on September 5.

Justice Aradhe inquired whether the petitioners filing the PIL intended to take the exam, to which the counsel said no.

Speaking about the arrangements, a candidate, Dr Mihir Singh, said, "Regarding the exam preparation, I would say it was good. The preparation was solid last time also. But the management of the exam itself was terrible. The government really needs to pay attention to these things. They did not really have adequate arrangements in place beforehand. We faced a lot of difficulties there, and hopefully, the exam will be conducted properly."
 

The NEET PG 2026 re-examination was conducted on September 5 for the candidates who could not complete the test during the original examination on August 30 in Jaipur. The re-exam was conducted from 3 pm to 6:30 pm.

According to the official exam notification, the result for the NEET PG 2026 will be declared by September 30. The result will be made available on the official website, natboard.edu.in.

As part of measures to strengthen examination security and prevent impersonation, Aadhaar-based authentication of candidates was  undertaken at examination centres.

The NBEMS is expected to publish the NEET PG 2026 answer key soon. Candidates will be able to download the response sheet and answer key PDF from the official website, natboard.edu.in or nbe.edu.in. 

The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) is a national level examination for the award of scholarship to qualified candidates seeking entry to the Master of Pharmacy (M Pharm) course.

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is the screening test for foreign medical graduates conducted as per the Screening Test Regulations, 2002.

As per official information, NBEMS provides a common national standard for evaluation of minimum level of attainment of the knowledge and competencies of post graduate and doctoral training. NBEMS conducts the following examinations:

1. NEET PG
2. NEET MDS
3. NEET SS
4. DNB-PDCET (Post Diploma CET)
5. FMGE
6. FDST
7. GPAT

The following medical institutions are not covered under centralised admissions for MD or MS seats through the NEET PG:

• AIIMS, New Delhi and other AIIMS
• PGIMER, Chandigarh
• JIPMER, Puducherry
• NIMHANS, Bengaluru
• Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram
   

On August 30, the Press Information Bureau's Fact Check unit rejected social media claims that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Postgraduate (PG) question paper was leaked in Jaipur, calling the allegation misleading. The post said that there was no paper leak in the examination.

The NEET PG 2026 is the single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to MD, MS, or PG Diploma courses for the academic session 2026-27, which will include the following:

1. All India 50% quota seats for all states/union territories of India
2. State quota seats for all states/UTs of India
3. All private medical colleges, institutions and universities or deemed universities across the country
4. Armed Forces Medical Services institutions
5. Post MBBS DNB courses, Direct 6 years DrNB courses and Post MBBS NBEMS Diploma courses

The NEET PG 2026 examination was scheduled for 2,73,096 candidates at 1,111 examination centres across 339 cities, covering all 36 States and Union Territories. A total of 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the examination, with the examination successfully completed for approximately 2,63,535 candidates.

Candidates will be able to download the response sheet and answer key PDF from the official website, natboard.edu.in. 

Candidates must note that the validity of the NEET PG 2026 result is only for the current admission session (2026-27) for MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses.

The eligibility criteria for participating in the NEET PG counselling process are as follows:

• General/EWS: 50th Percentile
• UR PwBD: 45th Percentile
• SC/ST/OBC: 40th Percentile

According to the official exam notification, the result for the NEET PG 2026 will be declared by September 30. The result will be made available on the official website, natboard.edu.in. 

According to official information, the examination centres were placed under live CCTV surveillance, which was continuously monitored from the NBEMS Command Centre at its Headquarters in Dwarka. A dedicated team of 190 personnel from NBEMS and TCS was deployed for real-time surveillance and monitoring.

According to official report, the nationwide examination was supported by extensive real-time monitoring and stringent security measures. A total of 2,527 faculty members were appointed as Independent Appraisers to oversee the conduct of the examination. In addition, more than 700 senior faculty members, including Deans, Directors, Medical Superintendents and senior professors, were deployed as Flying Squad members.

A user on X shared a screenshot of an incident where the medical board has sent emails to NEET PG candidates who appeared for the August 30 examination, apprising them of successful Aadhaar authentication for the “September 5” retest. 

Replying to the social media post, the NBEMS clarified that "in emails sent to a group of candidates who appeared in NEET PG 2026 on August 30, 2026, the date of examination has inadvertently been mentioned as September 5, 2026, in the opening line of the email, though the date and time of Aadhaar authentication mentioned below in the said email is correct."

"Error in the email sent is regretted," the medical board added. 

As per UIDAI requirements, email communication is being sent to NEET-PG 2026 candidates confirming successful Aadhaar authentication on the day of the examination.

The NEET PG 2026 exam was held on August 30, 2026, across the country. A total of 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the exam, with the examination successfully completed for 2,63,535 candidates, the official notice announced.

Additionally, a re-exam for 2,445 candidates affected by technical disruption at iON Digital Zone iDZ Sitapura centres, Jaipur, Rajasthan was held on September 5, 2026, at 3 pm.
