Ministry of Human Resource Development is working tooth and nail to implement the 17 point action plan which was adopted during the National Convention on Digital initiatives which was held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on July 9, 2017. The action plan was forwarded to all the universities on August 1, 2017. The Ministry, in its latest letter to all the Universities, has advocated early implementation of educational technologies in order to facilitate better functioning and improvement of academic standard.
In the letter, Prakash Javadekar has highlighted that though the initiatives like SWAYAM and SWAYAM Prabha (DTH Channels) have hugely improved educational standards, their full potential is yet to be realized. To monitor and measure the improvement brought about by these initiatives, he has requested Universities to convene meetings with affiliated colleges and review the progress.
In order to monitor the progress of the digital action plan, the ministry has also asked AISHE to design a simple Monitoring Portal for the Digital Action Plan implementation which should be operational by November 10, 2017.
The Universities would have to log-in on this portal and enter their progress on each of the 17 points of the action plan. This would not only help in identifying Universities for felicitation but also such Universities which may need help and assistance from the Ministry.
