Film And Television Institute Of India (FTII) Campus To Be Opened Soon In Arunachal Pradesh

Central Government Plans To Open FTII In Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: The government will set up a Film and Television Institute of India in Arunachal Pradesh. The institute would be set up on a campus of over 50 acres. The total estimated cost for the institute would be Rs. 200 crore. The institute in Arunachal Pradesh would be an extended campus of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. The Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that the institute would serve as a catalyst for promotion of talents in film making in the north-eastern states. He also said that the central government would also build a permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) at Aizwal in Mizoram. 

Both FTII and IIMC would provide quality education and training to the youth in film-making. According to PTI reports, Naidu gave this information during a review meeting with the officers of the Information and Broadcast ministry about the programmes and policies in north-east. He said that institutes would serve as media training hub for the north east region.

The permanent campus of IIMC in Aizwal will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 25 crore. 

Talking about the numerous film festivals which were organized by I&B ministry in the region, Naidu said that cinema is a powerful medium which sends across the message of peace and development in the region. The ministry recently concluded the National Children's Film Festival (NCFF) in Guwahati where value-based, and award winning films from the Children's Film Society catalogue were shown.

On the other hand a special edition of 'Fragrances from North East' showcased movies from the north-eastern region across the country to raise awareness and increase contact among people.
