A man was arrested in the Capital for allegedly murdering a youth for having an illicit
relationship with his sister-in-law, police said today. The arrested has been identified as Ganesh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Chand said.
Ganesh along with his cousin Sonu allegedly murdered Anil Kumar (25) and dumped his body on a railway track in Ganesh Nagar on December 20. "Anil had illicit relations with the wife of Ganesh's elder brother. So he hatched a conspiracy with his cousin Sonu to murder Anil," the officer said, adding Sonu is absconding.
Initially it appeared that Anil met with an accident after his body was recovered from the rail track. "His mobile phone was also recovered. During investigations it came to light that he was last seen with Ganesh and Sonu following which we questioned him," Chand said.
Ganesh allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. "He was having injury marks on his hand, head and forehead which he had suffered during a scuffle with the victim," he said.
During questioning, Ganesh told police that Anil was residing in his house in Ghaziabad on rent. His elder brother and wife were also staying in the same house while cousin Sonu was his neighbour.
"Ganesh and Sonu had planned to entice Anil to come near a railway track and then throw him before a running train. They wanted the incident to look like a train accident," Chand said.
