Five employees of MCD school suspended after seven-year-old allegedly raped
New Delhi: Five employees of a school, run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), have been suspended after a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the school premises on Thursday. The principal of the school in north-west Delhi's Mangolpuri area along with the school inspector, the girl's class teacher, a school attendant and a guard were suspended today by MCD Commissioner PK Gupta with immediate effect pending inquiry by the civic body.

The police have questioned several people in the case and are reportedly preparing a sketch of the accused. The police have made no arrests yet, but have detained 10 men, including a security guard and two male teachers, who had access to the school building and are questioning them. Some of them were taken for a Test Identification Parade or TIP to the hospital yesterday, but the child, who doctors say is still in psychological trauma, failed to identify any of them.

The police have sought the help of a non-government organisation to counsel the child as they try to get more details about the incident from her.

The girl, a student of class II, was discharged from the hospital today. Yesterday, clashes broke out between the police and around 500 protesters outside the hospital in north-west Delhi. Protesters threw stones and bricks damaging several buses, police patrol vans and shops in the area. Seventeen people were arrested and charged with rioting and destroying public property.

Protests were also held outside a police station today in the national capital after decomposed bodies of two siblings, aged five and seven, were found in a park near Pragati Maidan in central Delhi. The children were allegedly kidnapped from outside their school earlier this week and were found dead today after the parents did not pay the ransom of Rs 50 lakh demanded by the kidnappers, hoping the police would nab the culprits.
