Delhi: Teenage girl raped in moving car, filmed

New Delhi: A 16-year-girl was abducted and raped in a moving Maruti van by three men who also filmed her, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on June 27 when the victim, a Class 10 student in a government school, was returning home from a coaching institute at Subzi Mandi area of North Delhi.

"The victim in her complaint has alleged that she was also burnt with cigarette ends by the accused when she protested their sexual assault. The victim lives at Katra Nanak Chand locality in Subzi Mandi area," said a senior police officer.

On Sunday, the girl along with her parents registered a complaint with the Subzi Mandi police. The case was registered under section 363 (kidnapping) and 376 (rape) against the three men.

The medical examination of the victim has confirmed sexual assault.

Police said the victim in her complaint said that on June 27 around 5 p.m. she was headed towards her home after attending private tuition at a coaching institute.

"A brother of a school friend, Nitin, offered her lift. The victim agreed since she knew Nitin personally. Inside the car she found two other men whom Nitin introduced as his friends. They parked their vehicle at an isolated place and took turns to rape her. One of them filmed the act on his mobile phone. Later, they dropped her in Peeragarhi area and gave her money to hire an auto rickshaw and return home," said the officer, adding that after returning home the girl did not tell anyone in her family about the assault.

On Sunday morning, she narrated the story to her sister who in turn told their parents.

Police arrested Nitin and interrogated him. The officer said they have not been able to establish the victim's claim of being filmed by the accused. "We did not find anything in his mobile phone. Efforts are being made to apprehend the absconding accused. Their interrogation might help us establish this allegation," the official added.
