Delhi Police files case against cop who slapped a woman protesting rape of 5-year-old
New Delhi: Delhi Police has registered a case against an Assistant Commissioner for allegedly slapping a young woman during a protest against the rape of a five-year-old girl.

BS Alhawat, the ACP who was suspended after he was caught on camera, was charged with causing hurt (section 323 of Indian Penal Code) after the victim filed a complaint yesterday, a senior police official said.

Mr Alhawat was suspended within hours after the incident on April 19 at Swami Dayanand Hospital in the capital.

The woman and others were protesting against the rape of the five-year-old girl allegedly by two men in Gandhi Nagar area.

Delhi Police Commissioner on Monday said they will register a case against the ACP if the victim comes forward to file a complaint.

The rape victim is presently undergoing treatment in AIIMS and doctors said her condition is stable.
