At metro station, man attacked with kirpan by co-passenger

New Delhi: A 21-year-old man was attacked with a kirpan, a ceremonial Sikh dagger, while deboarding a train at a Metro station in Delhi on Sunday, police said.

The victim, Nitin, was attacked and injured in the waist at the Patel Chowk Metro station. The accused Kanwaljeet was nabbed by Central Industrial Security Force personnel and handed over to police.

The victim was taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, where he was stated to be out of danger.

Police said the attack took place after an argument between the two at the door of the overcrowded train.
