20-year-old woman call centre employee stabbed to death in Delhi

New Delhi: A 20-year-old woman, working with a call centre, was stabbed to death by a man in east Delhi on Monday.

The incident occurred at around 5 pm near Dallupura furniture market when the victim, Neha Yadav, was on her way home with a male colleague. The accused, Devender, intercepted their car and asked the young woman to come out of the vehicle. Devender then repeatedly stabbed her.

The accused, in his early 20s, reportedly lived in the same neighbourhood as the victim and had been friends with her for some time. He also apparently liked Ms Yadav and grew jealous of her friendship with her male colleague, who has been identified as Gaurav. On finding the two together yesterday, Devender reportedly got into an argument with the young woman and later attacked her in a fit of rage.

The victim received three injuries on her thighs, while her colleague was also injured in the incident, police said.

She was taken to the Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Devender was arrested from the spot, police said.
