Two men killed while robbing Bokaro bank

Bokaro /Giridih (Jharkhand): CCTV footage from a bank in Bokaro shows how four men opened fire during business hours on Thursday.

A bank guard and a customer who was injured cried out for help, attracting a police patrol team to the Bank of Baroda branch.

The policemen exchange fire with the four thieves for almost half an hour. Two members of the gang were killed.

The other two thieves managed to escape. However, they did not take any cash with them.

The injured were admitted to Bokaro General Hospital.

In all four dacoits barged into the bank around 10 am, the SP said and added two of their associates managed to flee leaving behind three guns and a bike.

In a separate bank loot, unidentified miscreants entered the SBI branch at Isri Bazaar in neighbouring Giridih district and escaped with Rs 25 lakh, police sources said in Giridih.

The criminals threatened the bank staff at gun-point before looting the booty, they said.

The police were investigating whether the same group was involved in both the incidents. (With PTI Inputs)
