Setback in Aarushi case, no clue from mobile

New Delhi: As the CBI continues to investigate the murder of 13-year-old Aarushi Talwar and her family's domestic help Hemraj, several questions still remain unanswered. Aarushi's phone which was recovered recently has drawn a blank.

The Aarushi Talwar murder probe took the CBI team to the dusty lanes of Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh. They were looking for her mobile phone which they thought will help them finally crack the case. They found the phone but there was nothing in it. No simcard, no memory card, no pictures, no messages, nothing.

Crime Branch of Delhi Police recovered the Nokia N-72 by tracking the International Mobile Equipment Identity six months after the murder. The CBI grilled the family using the phone for hours but it can't establish how the phone reached them

After the phone trail drew a blank the CBI is less hopeful of nailing the killer directly. Now it is trying to identify those who have a hand in botching up the investigations.

"They have been questioning all the persons who are involved even the ward boys to get some information," said an official from Ghaziabad.

The idea is, if evidence has been removed to save the killer then the killer can possibly be tracked down if the trail of destruction of evidence is properly established.
