Romanian engineer dies at construction site in Kullu

Shimla: An engineer from Romania, working on state-run NHPC's Parbati hydro power project, died on Tuesday while repairing a tunnel boring machine (TBM) at a construction site in Garsa valley of Kullu district, police said in Shimla.

Tudor Martin, a mechanical engineer with the project's tunnel boring contractor Robbins, was repairing the TBM machine at the construction site of Parbati Project Edit-II when its heavy motor slipped and fell on his chest and right leg, they said.

Martin suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the regional hospital in Kullu where he succumbed to his injuries.

A case has been registered and the Romanian Embassy has been asked to inform Martin's family, police said.
