Rains trigger flash flood in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: Large tracts of land in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district were washed away in flash floods which occurred due to a cloudburst on Monday. Several parts of the state also received moderate to heavy rainfall.

The flash floods in Pandoh area washed a large tract of land but there was no loss of life, officials said.

Rains also triggered landslides due to which the Mandi-Pathankot national highway was closed for nearly 10 hours.

Sujanpur Tira was the wettest in the region with 63 mm rains, while Gohar received 57 mm rains, followed by Dalhousie and Kasauli at 28 mm each.

Elsewhere, Baldwara and Baijnath received 24 mm rainfall, followed by Tissa at 20 mm, Kufri at 19 mm, Gaggal at 15 mm, Banjar at 14 mm and Solan at 10 mm.

Una recorded a maximum temperature of 26.2 degree Celsius, Bhunter 33.8, Sundernagar 33.1and Dharamshala 29.4 degree Celsius.

The state capital Shimla recorded a high of 22.3 degree Celsius.
