A police official was suspended on Friday for the alleged rape of a woman in Kokrajhar district after villagers demanded action against him.
Hitendranath Ray, the in-charge of Tulsibeel police outpost under Gossaigaon sub division was suspended for the alleged rape of a 23 year-old woman on November 17, Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police P K Dutta said.
The action was taken after a crowd of nearly 10,000 villagers covered the police outpost demanding action against the officer.
