Kerala industrialist donates kidney to save a life

Kochi: A man suffering from endlife renal failure has been given a new lease of life after a well known Kerala industrialist donated one of his kidneys to him.

A team of doctors of Lakeshore hospital here led by Dr George Abraham, Urologist and Dr Aby Abraham, Nephrologist performed the surgery here yesterday.

Industrialist and Chairman of V-Guard Group Kochouseph Chittilappilly and the recipient Joy Ulahannan are recovering after surgery, hospital sources said.

Joy's wife has also promised to donate her kidney to another needy person, the sources said.

Chittilappilly had a couple of months ago, decided to donate one of his kidneys, inspired by Father Davis Chiramal, who had donated his kidney.

He was the first donor of a kidney bank, set up recently by Fr Chiramal.

Chittilappily, heading the Rs 500 crore V-Guard group, was in the news recently when he donned the role of a headload worker and unloaded a few cargo boxes of V Star creations, a sister concern of the group, after some trade union activists did not permit his workers to unload the cargo.
