An unemployed youth allegedly strangled his mother in east Delhi in a fit of rage after she refused to give him money for consuming alcohol, police said on Sunday.
Mithilesh (54) was strangled allegedly by her 34-year-old son Sunil at their East Vinod Nagar residence at around 9:30 pm on Saturday after an argument, a senior police official said.
Sunil is unemployed and lately started consuming alcohol. He allegedly used to take money from his mother on some pretext or the other, the official said.
Mithilesh used to prod Sunil to get some job or start a small business and the man was said to be angry over the continuous advices from his mother.
He allegedly used to fight with his mother whenever she refused to give him money, police said.
Last night, Sunil asked for money from Mithilesh, who refused. An argument ensued and an enraged Sunil allegedly strangled her, the official said.
A case has been registered and Sunil was arrested.
He is the second son of Mithilesh. He has an elder brother and a younger sister.
