Dehra Dun murder case: Blood samples of Anupama's parents collected

Dehra Dun: Blood samples of the parents of Anupama, who was murdered and her body cut to pieces by her software engineer husband, were today collected for a DNA
test.

The blood samples of Anupama's father B R Pradhan and mother Gauri Pradhan were collected for the DNA test by a pathologist of government Doon hospital, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehra Dun, G S Martolia said.

The samples will be sent along with two of Anupama's body parts recovered from a deep freezer and the foothills of Mussoorie to the central laboratory in New Delhi, he said.

The SSP added that police had yesterday taken permission from Chief Judicial Magistrate Kunwar Amanendra Singh to collect blood samples of Anupama's parents to carry out the DNA test.

Meanwhile, A S Mann, advocate of Anupama's husband Rajesh Gulati, today refused to defend him and withdrew from the case.

He told reporters that he took the decision as he failed to find answers to his questions from the prosecution, police and Gulati.

The gruesome murder of 33-year-old Anupama came to light on December 12 when her brother had lodged a police complaint after he did not get a satisfactory reply from Gulati about his sister's whereabouts.

The police later arrested 37-year-old Gulati, who confessed to have murdered Anupama, cut her body into pieces and hid them in a deep-freezer for nearly two months.
