Arunachal Padesh: Policeman held for abducting girl

Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh: A police Sub Inspector was arrested on the charge of kidnapping an eighteen-year-old girl allegedly to hush up criminal cases she had filed against him.

Mone Pado was missing from her rented room since November 28 following which her brother lodged a missing person complaint and alleged that the policeman Unneshwar Perme could be the person behind the disappearance of her sister.

Acting on the complaint, police launched a search and came to know that the girl had an illicit relation with the married policeman for the past six years and the man had visited her twice before she went missing.

The girl had filed three criminal cases against Perme which are in various stages of trial in the Sessions Court.

Perme was forcing her to withdraw the cases with the promise of marrying her, according to the girl's brother. Records show that the accused had called the victim on her mobile before she went missing.

Investigations also revealed that the accused had entered the victim's rented room with a spare key in her absence and had taken away several documents including important files of the pending cases.

Unneshwar Perme was arrested from his official residence at Police Colony on Monday. He has been charged under sections 448/380/364/365/201 of the Indian Penal Code, the police said.

The accused got bail on Tuesday.
