6 Killed, 5 Injured as Crane Falls on Shops in Madhya Pradesh

The crane fell on the shops due to bad weather, killing 6 and injuring 5.

Amarkantak:

6 labourers were killed and 5 others seriously injured after a crane fell crushing shops in Annupur District of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday evening.

The crane which was being used for the construction of a Jain Temple in Amarkantak collapsed due to heavy rainfall and bad weather.

According to the officials, problems are being faced in the relief and rescue operation due to hostile weather conditions in the region.

"I was near the Jain temple, when two of my family members who had taken shelter in a shop nearby called me there. Soon after I reached the crane came down at us. Both my family members have been killed," Narvada Singh, one of the injured, told NDTV.

Collector Annupur Narendra Parmar said, "In the accident 6 people have died and 5 people have been seriously injured. We will give family of the deceased a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each. We fear that the number of causalities is likely to go up."

The victims are yet to be identified.
