Vespa Tech 80th Special Edition Unveiled In India; Here's What's Special

Italian two-wheeler manufacturer Vespa has unveiled the Tech 80th special edition scooter in India to mark the brand's 80th anniversary, blending heritage design cues with modern technology. The commemorative model will be offered in two engine options: 125cc and 150 cc, targeted at riders seeking a stylish, premium positioned urban commuter.

Special Design

The Tech 80th edition is distinguished by a distinctive "Verde Pastello" green paint scheme, inspired by early Vespa models from the late 1940s. This colour treatment extends beyond the bodywork to elements such as the front shield trim, grab handle, mirrors, switchgear, and the front suspension linkage, giving the scooter a cohesive vintage character. Darker green accents appear on the seat upholstery, footrest inserts, and handlebar grips, highlighting the retro theme.

Faithful to the 1946 original, the scooter features wheels styled to resemble those of the Vespa 98, finished in the same green shade with a diamond cut effect. A prominent "80th" badge is placed alongside the Vespa logo at the front, while the rear carries a special "80 years of Vespa Est. 1946" insignia, underlining the celebratory nature of this limited-run model.

Underpinnings, Powertrain

Despite its heritage-oriented styling, the Tech 80th is built on Vespa's current product platform and retains the hardware and safety features of the standard range. The 125 cc variant is powered by a 124.4 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 9.5 horsepower and 10.1 Nm of torque, while the 150 cc version uses a 149.5 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled unit that delivers 11.4 horsepower and 11.6 Nm. Both engines are paired with a CVT automatic transmission, ensuring a refined riding experience suited to city commuting.

Vespa has not yet revealed the full feature list or pricing for the Tech 80th edition in India, but the company has indicated that details and pricing will be announced next week. Given the brand's positioning and the commemorative nature of the model, the Tech 80th is expected to be priced at a premium over standard Vespa variants, targeting enthusiasts who value design, exclusivity, and brand heritage.
