Tata Punch Facelift Secures 5-Star Safety Rating At Bharat NCAP Crash Test -Details

The Tata Punch facelift, launched at Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom), secured a 5-star safety rating at the Bharat NCAP test bed. The results of the crash test are out now. Here's how the micro SUV performed.

Tata Motors has officially launched the facelifted version of its popular micro-SUV, the Punch, bringing a host of updates in design, features, and safety. The refreshed model not only sports cosmetic and equipment upgrades but also boasts a perfect 5-star safety rating under Bharat NCAP, making it one of the safest vehicles in its segment. The Punch performed exceptionally well in crash tests, ensuring high levels of protection for both adult and child occupants.  

Tata Punch Facelift: Adult Occupant Protection

In adult occupant protection, the 2026 Tata Punch scored 30.58 out of a maximum 32 points, translating into a solid 5-star rating. The driver dummy received adequate protection for the chest, knees, and feet, while the head and thighs were rated "good" in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. The co-driver dummy achieved an overall "good" rating across most body parts, with only the right knee marked as "adequate." In the side deformable barrier test, all body parts except the chest received "good" protection, while the chest was rated "adequate." Impressively, the Punch passed the side pole impact test with "good" protection for all body regions.

Tata Punch Facelift: Child Occupant Protection

Child occupant protection was equally strong, with the Punch securing 45 out of 49 points, earning another 5-star rating. The SUV scored a perfect 24 out of 24 in dynamic tests and 12 out of 12 in CRS installation tests, confirming that child seats can be securely fitted. The overall vehicle assessment score stood at 9 out of 13, a decent result that still leaves room for minor improvements.

Tata Punch Facelift: Safety Features

The facelift also introduces new safety and convenience features. A 360-degree camera with blind view monitoring and front parking sensors is now available, while six airbags have been made standard across all variants. Other safety equipment includes ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, hill-descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, and three-point seatbelts with reminders for every occupant. 

Tata Punch Facelift: Price And Rivals 

Pricing for the updated Punch starts at Rs 5.59 lakh and goes up to Rs 10.54 lakh (ex-showroom). With its enhanced safety credentials and added features, the Punch continues to compete strongly against rivals such as the Hyundai Exter, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, while also serving as an alternative to entry-level trims of the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. Tata's latest update positions the Punch as a well-rounded package that blends affordability, safety, and modern features for Indian buyers.
