Tata Motors has rolled out the much-awaited Punch EV facelift in India, starting at Rs 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom). This update hits the market just weeks after the ICE Punch refresh, bringing fresh looks and tech to keep pace in the crowded entry-level EV segment. It carries hopes of the brand to gain more ground in a growing market. Here's a closer look at the five standout upgrades that can help it achieve its goal.

Pricing Policy

The first major update is in the form of a new pricing policy, i.e., the EV now comes with the option of BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) at a starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom) with Rs 2.6 per km for battery. The pricing model was introduced by JSW MG Motor India and now seems to be catching on among other automakers. Recently, Maruti Suzuki launched its first EV, e Vitara, with a pricing policy.

Sharper Front Styling

Gone is the busier old nose; the facelift sports a cleaner fascia with a sealed grille and slim LED DRLs linked by a full-width strip. The bumper looks more angular, paired with redesigned aero 16-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels. It gives the Punch EV a bolder stance without overdoing it. Additionally, three new, fresh shades join the palette, including a striking yellow (echoing Harrier's Sunlit Yellow) and copper, both with black roof options.

Bigger Battery, Better Range

The headline change here is battery capacity. Old versions stuck to 25 kWh and 35 kWh packs. Now, the brand is offering a bigger 40 kWh battery pack in the Long Range version, claimed to offer 468 of ARAI range while the real-world range pushes over 350 km on a single charge. A 15-minute DC fast charge adds up to 135 km, and a full top-up from 20-80% takes 26 minutes on a 65 kW charger.

Tech-Heavy Cabin Refresh

Inside, redesigned AC vents, new leatherette upholstery, and a piano black console freshen things up. The 10.25-inch touchscreen gets a slicker UI, alongside a 10.25-inch digital cluster, ventilated seats, wireless charging, and ambient lighting. A 360-degree camera and connected tech round it off nicely.

Enhanced Safety Kit

Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard, high beam assist, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
