Tesla has officially announced its entry into the Indian market after several years of to and fro with the central government. Although the company had initially planned to enter the country in 2016, those plans did not materialize. Now, Tesla is set to launch in 2025, starting with its first showroom in Mumbai. Initially, it was expected that the Model 3 would be the first vehicle introduced in India, but recent developments indicate that the Model Y will be launched first instead.

While there is a lot of buzz on social media around the launch of Tesla's first electric vehicle in the country, it is not the only EV from a global manufacturer launching in the market Today (July 15). Along with it, Kia, the South Korean giant, is set to launch its first seven-seater electric vehicle in the form of the Carens Clavis EV. This vehicle is the electric powertrain version of the recently launched affordable MPV of the brand.

Although both the vehicles lie on different ends of the spectrum, with Tesla Model Y being a rather premium offering with a relatively higher price tag. Both models represent the growth in the Indian EV market. Along with this, July 15 also marks the day of initiation of the pre-booking process for Vinfast VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs. These are the first two models of the Vietnamese brand in the country and are expected to be launched soon.

Talking of the details, the Kia Carens Clavis EV. It shares its design details with its ICE counterpart and is expected to come loaded with similar features and more. The powertrain details of the electric MPV have not been completely revealed yet. However, it is known that it will have two battery pack options. There will be a 51.4 kWh battery pack offering a range of 490 km on a single charge, with the option of a smaller 42 kWh battery pack.

Meanwhile, the Tesla Model Y is offered in RWD and AWD powertrain options. The Long Range AWD version of the vehicle offers a range of 530 km on a single charge using a 75 kWh battery pack.
