Audi has unveiled the latest iteration of its A6L long-wheelbase sedan exclusively for the Chinese market. The model can be a direct competitor of other luxury models with stretched features like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB. The model takes inspiration from the globally available A6 model without the elongated wheelbase. However, the dimensions differ. Here we take a look at the details of the sedan.
Produced through the FAW-Audi joint venture, the new A6L measures 5,142 mm in length with a 3,066 mm wheelbase, surpassing the standard A8's wheelbase by 68 mm while remaining 62 mm shorter than the A8L. This extended footprint prioritises rear-seat comfort, a key demand in China.

The design adopts the global A6's bold styling, featuring a revised grille pattern, slim LED accents around the illuminated badge, and metal-like trim on the bumpers and side skirts. S-Line variants add darker accents and 21-inch wheels tailored to local tastes. Rear doors are noticeably longer to accommodate the stretched body.

Inside, the cabin emphasises luxury for passengers. China-specific rear seats focus on long-haul comfort, complemented by a 1.96 square metre panoramic roof with 112 RGB LEDs for ambient lighting. A 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen system provides audio, while the dashboard hosts an 11.9-inch driver display, a 14.5-inch central infotainment screen, a passenger display, and a head-up display.

Safety features include 33 sensors with dual LiDAR units, Huawei's Qiankun Intelligent Driving tech supporting 28 ADAS functions, 7+2 airbags, semi-concealed door handles with protection, a collapsible hood, and bumper cushioning.
Powertrains offer variety on the PPC platform. A base 2.0-litre turbo mild-hybrid delivers 201 hp to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch. A stronger 2.0-litre version makes 268 hp, optionally with a 24 hp electric motor and quattro AWD. The top V6 is a 3.0-litre turbo producing 362 hp, standard with the electric motor and quattro. All-wheel steering and air suspension with 30 mm height adjustment are available.
In China, the starting price for the 2026 Audi A6L is CNY 323,000 (approximately Rs 43.35 lakh), while its highest price reaches CNY 436,000 (around Rs 58.52 lakh). Notably, the 2026 Audi A6L is priced CNY 104,900 (approximately Rs 14 lakh) lower than the previous A6L, which was initially launched in China in 2018 and underwent a facelift in 2022. This reduction in pricing is attributed to the rising competition from Chinese electric vehicles (EVs).
