- Hyundai cars, especially i20 and Creta, face frequent AC problems in high heat conditions
- Cooling coil failures are common and often require costly complete replacements
- Service centers may confuse customers with multiple part numbers, increasing repair costs
With temperatures soaring across the country, a properly functioning air-conditioning system has become non-negotiable for car owners. High ambient temperatures do put increased stress on car AC systems, but for many Hyundai owners, summer heat appears to be exposing a weak link. We recently came across multiple Instagram reels in which mechanics and spare-parts resellers spoke about Hyundai cars and what they describe as recurring AC issues.
One such video was uploaded by Singh AC Services. In the video, the mechanic claims that Hyundai cars are among the most common vehicles visiting his garage for AC-related problems. He further states that the Hyundai i20 is particularly notorious, adding that despite being a car aimed at middle-class buyers, it tends to face AC issues relatively often.

In another reel, the same mechanic goes a step further, stating that he would personally avoid buying a Hyundai Creta, preferring a Maruti Suzuki Brezza instead, citing the Creta's AC system as being prone to problems under extreme heat. However, he does not specify the exact technical reasons behind these failures.

Separately, Auto Decode shared a video highlighting what it claims to be poor spare-part quality and high replacement costs associated with Hyundai AC components. According to him, many Hyundai owners in India face serious AC issues after just three to four years of usage, with cooling coil failure being a primary cause. He adds that the only reliable fix is replacing the entire cooling coil, which can be expensive. He also alleges that service centres may confuse customers with multiple part numbers, leading to higher bills without clear explanations.
Adding to this, one of Tamil Nadu's larger automobile service providers, maniautomobiles_raj, shared a reel claiming that AC issues are among the most common complaints in the Hyundai Creta. He points to solenoid failure, which can cause the compressor to run uncontrollably, eventually damaging components like the condenser, cooling coil, expansion valve, and in some cases, leading to complete AC failure.
Ways To Keep Such Issues At Bay
- Run the AC regularly: Even in cooler months, occasional use helps keep seals and compressors healthy.
- Clean the cabin filter on time: A clogged filter reduces cooling efficiency and stresses the system.
- Avoid blasting the AC at max immediately: Gradual cooling reduces load on the compressor.
- Check gas pressure during service: Low or excessive refrigerant can damage components.
- Fix minor cooling issues early: Delaying repairs often leads to costlier component failures later.
