Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch its first electric SUV- the e Vitara, in India tomorrow. Production has already begun, with units also being exported to global markets. The e Vitara blends familiar Vitara styling with modern EV technology, marking a major milestone in Maruti Suzuki's shift toward sustainable mobility and its entry into the competitive electric vehicle segment.
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will offer two battery pack options: a 49kWh and a 61kWh. The smaller battery pack will get a single-motor powering the front wheels, while the bigger battery-backed trim will get a dual-motor configuration that provides all-wheel drive, referred to by Suzuki as AllGrip-e.
According to the WLTP test cycle, the e Vitara with the 61 kWh battery and front-wheel drive offers the longest range at 428 km, followed by the all-wheel-drive variant at 394 km. The base model with the 49 kWh battery has a range of 344 km. The front-wheel-drive e Vitara will first likely be introduced in India with the larger battery pack, providing over 500 km as rated by the ARAI; the dual-motor variant is anticipated to be available later.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara's design highlights include three-point matrix LED DRLs integrated with the headlights, chunky bumpers with piano-black detailing, and blacked-out 18-inch aerodynamic alloys. A sculpted 3D profile and three-point matrix tail lamps complete the look, which closely mirrors the ICE Vitara.
