Mahindra Thar Roxx's launch changed the perception of the "Thar" moniker by incorporating multiple design changes and adding advanced features to a rather basic off-road SUV. Meanwhile, the three-door Thar remained untouched and continued to be on sale without the tech advancements. Now, the Indian manufacturer plans on changing that with the launch of the Thar Facelift. While the date of the launch has not been confirmed, the SUV will certainly be launched in September 2025. Before the event, here's what to expect from the vehicle.
Ahead of its launch, the Mahindra Thar facelift has been seen undergoing tests, and the spy shots have revealed various details about the upcoming model. Starting with the exterior design, the Thar now features the same vertical slat grille as the Thar Roxx. It will also adopt the headlight design from the five-door Roxx, which shares the same name. This setup includes an LED projector with C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). In addition, the front bumper, fog lamps, and LED turn indicators are identical to those found on the Roxx.

On the interior, the Thar facelift will have a significant upgrade with a freestanding 10.2-inch infotainment display that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, replacing the previous 7-inch version. Moreover, the steering wheel mirrors that of the Thar Roxx, positioned in front of the 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster. However, it appears to still have a manual inside rearview mirror (IRVM), and there are no cameras present, suggesting that advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) will not be included.
As for the mechanical aspects, the Mahindra Thar facelift is expected to retain existing features without alterations. It will continue to offer the same 1.5-liter diesel, 2.2-liter diesel, and 2.0-liter petrol engines. The transmission options will range from manual to automatic, available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) configurations. This adds to the off-road capabilities of the ladder-on-frame SUV.
