Mahindra & Mahindra recently introduced a fresh batch of the BE 6 Batman Edition. While many new consumers received the launch as a welcome move, the existing owners of the vehicles were not pleased with the announcement. The buyers who got the vehicle in the first batch claimed that this goes against the claims of the car being a "limited run" model. Following the backlash from the unhappy owners, the brand has announced a buyback offer for the first batch of owners.

Why Buyback?

Mahindra had launched the BE 6 Batman Edition initially in August 2025 with the claim that production would be limited to 999 units. All of these units were sold out within a few minutes of opening bookings. While the consumers were least expecting it, the brand introduced a second batch of the special edition model on March 6, 2026.

The release of a second batch within seven months of introduction was perceived as a dilution of the limited-run model. Hence, the automaker faced heat from consumers in the form of strong criticism on social media. Despite this, the second batch with 999 units was also sold out within a few minutes, even with a bump in price of around Rs 70.000.

Paying heed to the reaction from consumers, Mahindra responded with the option of full buyback of the first batch of the special edition EV. Consumers who wish to take up the offer can communicate with their dealership for the formalities required. Although the automaker has specified that the offer is only for 30 days starting March 18, 2026.

Meanwhile, the powertrain details remain the same as the standard 79 kWh battery pack version. It offers an ARAI claimed range of 682 km on a single charge with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 286 hp and 380 Nm.
