KTM RC 490 Snapped Testing Overseas; Here's What To Expect

KTM is readying a bunch of new offerings for the global market. Recently, we covered the Austrian brand testing the 790 Duke and the 790 Adventure on foreign ground. Now, a new KTM motorcycle is on the rounds, which is claimed to be the KTM RC 490. While the brand had hinted at its plans of working on the 490 project long ago, the new spy shots suggest that its development is still ongoing.

Talking about the overall design, the KTM RC 490 spy shots suggest that the motorcycle seeks much of its design inspiration from the current RC 390, in terms of the LED headlamp, DRL, and projector lamp setup. However, the design appears to be slightly tweaked, giving it a sharper look than the 390 cousin.

Other highlights include twin header pipes, confirming the presence of a twin-cylinder engine. Also, the KTM RC 490 test vehicle was spotted with a single-sided swing arm reminiscent of the CF Moto 450 SR. It must be noted that KTM and CFMoto work in a partnership in the Chinese and other international markets.

It is quite early to confirm the feature list of the KTM RC 490; however, it is expected to get a TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity with navigation, multiple riding modes, cornering traction control, cornering ABS, bi-directional quickshifter, and more.

The KTM RC 490 is expected to be powered by a 490cc, twin-cylinder engine that might push around 50 hp- 55 hp of peak power. Additionally, the twin-cylinder setup will probably give the KTM RC 490 improved engine refinement.
