KTM India has launched the RC 160 in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle is the entry-gate into the supersport family of motorcycles being the most affordable member of the lineup placed right below the RC 200 sold in the country. It replaces the RC 125 which was discontinued by the brand earlier along with the 125 Duke, which has been replaced by the 160 Duke.
Mirroring the design philosophy of the 160 Duke, the KTM RC 160 takes inspiration from its bigger sibling, the RC 200. To begin with, the motorcycle has a similar layout for the LED headlamp and the daytime running lights, topped off with a windshield. The similarities are further visible in the form of polygonal rear-view mirrors and a fuel tank that seamlessly integrates with the split seat design. The graphics on the fairing closely resemble those found on the RC 200, featuring a similar color scheme.

The main difference is the RC 160 badge located on the side fairing, along with KTM's distinctive "Ready To Race" graphics, which offer it a unique visual identity while keeping the brand's competitive essence intact.
At its core, the KTM RC 160 is equipped with the same 164 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that powers the 160 Duke. This engine is tuned to generate 19 hp at 9,500 rpm and 15.5 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. It is claimed to be delivering the highest output in its class with an impressive power to weight ratio. The power from this engine is transmitted to the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox. With all of this, the top-speed is claimed to be 118 kmph.

Housing the engine is a trellis frame suspended on inverted 37 mm front forks and a monoshock at the rear end. Braking power comes from a 320 mm disc at the front and 230 mm disc at the rear end. Enhancing the safety is a dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle holds the ground using 17-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, The list of features include LCD instrument cluster which offers connectivity features and navigation features, with all LED lighting the motorcycle also gets a assist & slipper clutch.

In the Indian market, the KTM RC 160 is pitted against the Yamaha R15 which comes at a starting price of Rs 1.66 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier, the motorcycle was priced at Rs 1.71 lakh (ex-showroom) and has recently received a price cut of Rs 5,000.
