Volkswagen has unveiled the Taigun facelift in the Indian market. This marks the introduciton of the first major update of the SUV in the Indian market since its debut in 2021. Furthermore, it is one of the most crucial launches for the automaker because it competes in a crowded mid-size segment. To hold its ground against rivals, the model now comes with revisions in design, features, and powertrain. Here are all the details of the new Taigun.

2026 Volkswagen Taigun: Design

The latest version of the SUV keeps its overall shape while introducing significant updates in its design. Firstly, the SUV features a revamped front end. It now has new headlights that draw inspiration from the larger Tiguan, with these lights connected by LED daytime running lights that converge at the center with the logo. The grille's design has also been updated. At the back, the vehicle sports connected taillights and a blacked-out Taigun emblem, all aligned with the brand's updated design philosophy. Additionally, there is a fresh design for the alloy wheels.

The new Taigun is offered with Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey colours, giving it a total of 9 colour options. The list also includes Lava Blue, Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel, Carbon Steel Matte, Deep Black Pearl, Candy White, and Cherry Red.

2026 Volkswagen Taigun: Interior, Features

The Vokswagen Taigun Facelift gets a new 10.09-inch infotainment system, that allows you to use 15 different applications, a new 9-inch digital driver cluster, that also gives you turn by turn navigation. The Volkswagen Taigun Facelift also gets the 'Hello Volkswagen' Voice Assist that can help you to control basc functions like AC controls, music and more.

The comfort functions of the Volswagen Taigun Facelift incudes: panoramic sunroof with summer function, rear winshield wiper (standard), smart touch climatic AC, 6-way electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, and more.

For a safer ride, the Volkswagen Taigun Facelift is equipped with safety features like 6 airbags, multi-collision brakes, electric stability control, front and rear parking sensors, brake disc wiping and over 40 other safety features. With this features the Taigun Facelift boasts a 5-star GNAP safety rating for adult and child Occupant Protection.

2026 Volkswagen Taigun: Engine, Specs

In terms of performance, the new Volkswagen Taigun retains the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which generates 114 hp and 178 Nm of torque, and continues to offer a 6-speed manual transmission, while the previous 6-speed automatic option has been replaced by a new 8-speed automatic. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine offering 147 hp and 250 Nm also remains available in this latest model, providing choices between a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The Volkswagen Taigun facelift competes in a crowded mid-size SUV segment. This makes it the rival for models like the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Renault Duster, Tata Sierra, and its sibling, the Skoda Kushaq.
