2026 Tesla Model Y Premium RWD Launched In India At Rs 50.89 Lakh

Tesla has launched the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) variant at Rs 50.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This electric car variant offers a WLTP range of 500 km and replaces the Long Range Premium RWD variant of the Model Y, which was sold at Rs 67.80 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, the brand now has two variants of the car in India: Premium RWD and L Premium AWD. Deliveries of the new variant will start in July 2026.

Although Tesla has not officially announced the battery capacity or motor performance specifications for the India-specific version, the rear-wheel-drive Model Y available in other markets features a 64 kWh battery pack along with a rear-mounted electric motor. This motor delivers an output of 299 hp. The 2026 Model Y rear-wheel-drive variant that will be sold in India has a WLTP range of up to 500 km.

This premium electric vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in a stated 5.9 seconds and has a maximum speed of 201 kmph. Tesla states that the Model Y rear-wheel drive can achieve up to 238 km of charge in just 15 minutes, utilizing a DC fast-charging rate of up to 175 kW when connected to a Supercharger.

The 2026 Tesla Model Y Premium RWD accommodates five passengers and is offered with either an All-Black or Zen Grey interior design. Tesla asserts that the five-seat Model Y provides a maximum storage capacity of 2,138 liters. Additionally, this entry-level version of the Model Y features the company's new 16-inch main touchscreen, along with an 8.0-inch touchscreen for rear passengers.

The list of features continues to include elements like panoramic sunroof, ventilation for the front seats, along with power reclining and folding for the rear seats, powered tailgate, wireless charging, acoustic glass, and more.
