BMW Motorrad India has launched the new BMW M 1000 R supersport roadster in the country, expanding its high-performance M motorcycle lineup. Offered as a completely built-up unit (CBU), the motorcycle combines superbike performance with roadster styling and advanced electronics. The new model features aggressive design updates, a powerful inline-four engine derived from the RR series and track-focused technologies aimed at delivering an exhilarating riding experience.

The new BMW M 1000 R carries an aggressive and compact design language that highlights its performance-focused character. Up front, the motorcycle gets new dual-flow LED headlights derived from the RR models, along with an M logo positioned between the air intakes. The front profile is further enhanced by M Winglets, which generate aerodynamic downforce and improve stability at high speeds.

These winglets increase front-wheel load by around 11 kg at speeds of 220 km/h, improving handling and cornering confidence. The bike also features optimised brake ducts integrated into the front mudguards to improve airflow around the fork legs and brake callipers. With the optional M Competition Package, the bike is equipped with lightweight M Carbon wheels, highlighting the premium motorsport-inspired finish.

BMW M 1000 R: Specs

Powering the BMW M 1000 R is a 999 cc, water-cooled inline four-cylinder engine designed for high-performance riding. The motor produces 210 hp at 13,750 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 11,100 rpm, enabling the roadster to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. The motorcycle has a claimed top speed of 280 km/h.

The engine incorporates BMW's ShiftCam technology, which optimises torque delivery across the rev range while maintaining strong peak power. Other performance components include titanium valves, lighter cam followers and revised camshafts, along with shorter intake funnels designed to enhance airflow at higher engine speeds.

BMW M 1000 R: Features

The motorcycle comes equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT instrument display featuring an M start-up animation and a redesigned rev counter. It also supports connectivity features through an OBD interface compatible with the M GPS Datalogger and M GPS Laptrigger.

Riding assistance features include multiple riding modes - Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race and Race Pro1-3. The bike also gets the latest generation Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) with a wheelie control function supported by a 6-axis sensor system. Other highlights include launch control, pit-lane limiter, adaptive turning lights, cruise control, heated grips and a lightweight M battery.

BMW M 1000 R: Variants And Price

The new BMW M 1000 R is priced at Rs 33.50 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The motorcycle is available in colour options such as Light White non-metallic / M Motorsport and White Aluminium metallic matt. Customers can also opt for the M Competition Package, which adds several carbon fibre components, M Carbon wheels and additional track-focused equipment.

Pre-bookings for the motorcycle are now open at authorised BMW Motorrad dealerships across India, with deliveries scheduled to begin in May 2026.
