The Toyota Hilux, one of the most respected and successful pickup trucks globally known for its reliability, has once again proven its mettle, this time in the safety department. The 2025 Hilux has achieved a full five-star ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) safety rating.
The ANCAP assessments for the Hilux covered a range of tests designed to evaluate performance across crash safety and active protection systems. In Adult Occupant Protection, the Hilux earned 33.96 points out of 40, translating to an 84 percent rating. Testing included frontal offset (MPDB), oblique pole, rescue and extraction, full-width frontal, whiplash protection, side impact, and far side impact assessments, all of which showcased the truck's strong body structure and effective restraint systems.

For Child Occupant Protection, the Hilux impressed with a remarkable 89 percent score, securing 44 out of 49 points. This category evaluated factors such as dynamic front and side impact performance, restraint installation, and on-board child safety features. The results underline Toyota's focus on safeguarding younger passengers through improved seat design and ISOFIX anchorage strength.
The Hilux's performance in the Vulnerable Road User Protection category, where it scored 82 percent (52.16 out of 63 points). The tests here covered pedestrian and cyclist head, leg, and pelvis protection, as well as the effectiveness of the truck's autonomous emergency braking systems (AEB) for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. Toyota's advanced sensor suite and detection algorithms played a key role in achieving these scores.

Finally, under Safety Assist, which measures the effectiveness of driver-assist technologies, the Hilux registered another 82 percent score (14.83 out of 18 points). ANCAP evaluated features such as seatbelt reminders, lane support systems, speed assistance, driver monitoring, and forward, junction, and head-on AEB scenarios. Together, these systems add a crucial preventive layer to complement the vehicle's passive safety strength.
