Noida Turns 40 Years Old

Noida: Noida city today turned 40 and New Okhla Industrial Development Authority Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rama Raman said plans are underway to make it a smart city.

In 1976 New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) was formed for development of integrated industrial township to shift Delhi's industrial units. Initially, the city witnessed industrial development and later the demand for housing shifted towards residential housing projects.

Various government ministries and department shifted to Noida and the corporate sector too came to the city and it became an IT hub.

A number of hospitals came up in the city and a district hospital building is under construction at sector 39. City also attracted education institutions and several engineering and management colleges were established in the city.

Noida was the first NCR city to have Metro rail. Now Metro rail project will link Noida to Greater Noida while work on Kalindi Kunj Metro line is going on.

Several cultural and sports events were organised on the eve of foundation day celebrations.
