Dhoni, Harbhajan send police into tizzy
Press Trust of India, Monday November 2, 2009, Chandigarh

Indian cricket captain M S Dhoni and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on Sunday sent the police in Chandigarh into a tizzy as they left the team hotel without informing the police while Yuvraj Singh also went out declining an offer to have security personnel with him.

The police said they were not amused at the "irresponsible action" of the players and have prepared a report about the "security violations" made by them.

Man-of-the-match in India-Australia third one-dayer in Delhi, Yuvraj Singh, was the first to leave the Taj, the team hotel, and drove out in a car.

Yuvraj, who belongs to Chandigarh, drove out in a Audi bearing a temporary registration number of Haryana late on Sunday evening from the hotel in Sector 17 and returned a couple of hours later, police said.

Later, Dhoni and Harbhajan also followed suit and left the hotel for a brief period without informing the security, which a senior official said was mandatory.

"First Yuvraj left and when we told him to take a security official with him, he outrightly refused. Then captain M S Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh also left their hotel without informing," Chandigarh's Superintendent of Police (Security) H S Doon said.

He said Deputy Superintendent of Police Roshan Lal, who is the camp commandant deputed at the hotel where the teams are staying, had prepared a report about the "security violations made by the players".

"I have got the report and now we will be taking up the matter with the PCA, which is hosting tomorrow's match at Mohali," Doon said.

No security is needed for these egoistic cricketers. Terrorist will care a hoot for them. Only top humble cricketers like Dravid, Tendulkar who play for the country may need protection from anti-Indian terrorist. (Hope the cops charge good money for guarding these money loaded people playing who play this English game).

Very well said Mr. Indian. I still dont understand why our tax which some people are trying to pay honestly is been used in such a way. why is the Government wasting so much money on these people. They have money in their pocket. They can hire there own guards. Police can not do normal jobs of securing people and they are trying to save these, so called, celeberities. Stop all this. If any editor is reading this please let this go thorugh in front of the indian population. We need to start thinking about it. We need to think the amount of tax we pay to the Govenrment, where is it going? Its time now to raise your voice. There have been cases recenlty of Politician having so much money deposited in their bank Account. Wake up India. its high-time.
