Kolkata: More than four years after the infamous Park Street gangrape case, Kolkata Police has arrested the main accused from Uttar Pradesh.

Kader Khan, who was the main accused in the gang-rape of Suzette Jordan, was brought to Kolkata today after being arrested along with another suspect from Greater Noida near Delhi.

"Yesterday night we got an input that these persons are hiding somewhere in Noida. Our team raided a house...and picked up both the accused from there," said senior police officer Murali Dhar.

Rape survivor Suzette Jordan, who died of Meningitis last year, was gang-raped on the night of February 5, 2012 by five men who had offered to drop her home from a night club at Kolkata's posh Park Street.

In December last year, the three convicts were sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.

According to sources, Kader Khan had gone into hiding after allegedly committing the crime and has been evading arrest for more than four years.

In 2013, Suzette Jordan boldly revealed her identity to the world and marched on the streets of Kolkata to protest against a series of rapes and murders in the state.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had taken charge a year before, was widely criticized for commenting that the complaint of her rape was a "shajano ghotona" or fabricated.

"I forgive the chief minister. She made a mistake. Anyone can make a mistake and I don't hold it against her anymore," Suzette had told NDTV.
