Thrissur: On camera, a 16 year old boy is seen driving a car. It's not just any car, it is his police officer father's official vehicle.

The Juvenile Justice Court in Kerala has ordered the police to file a case against Inspector General Suresh Rajpurohit for allowing his minor son to drive the vehicle. Only people 18 and above can drive. Official or government vehicles have restricted access and can only be driven by select personnel.

But the Kerala police are yet to register a first information report or FIR. Police officers told NDTV they were yet to get orders to take action in the matter.

IG Rajpurohit is Director of the Police Academy at Thrissur. His son was filmed driving the car on the campus of the academy.

The footage that shows the boy driving past in the white SUV was filmed on a mobile phone and clips were sent out to reporters earlier this month. It was not clear who had filmed and sent out the video.

After local television channels aired the visuals, Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala had ordered an enquiry.
