PM Modi On Mann Ki Baat: Start-Ups Not Only About IT, Many Options There

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation through his monthly radio programme, Mann ki Baat.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the opportunities for start-ups are endless and the January 16 programme has proved that.

Speaking on the 16th edition of his monthly radio address Mann ki Baat, PM Modi said, "Our start up India initiative dispelled the notion that start-ups are only about IT. Opportunities are endless."

He added that the programme had brought a new enthusiasm and energy among the youth of the nation.

PM Modi had announced the "Start up India Stand-up India" programme from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day. The formal inauguration happened on January 16.

With an aim to boost entrepreneurship and job creation in the country, the government will pump in Rs 2,500 crore as an initial corpus for the programme.

Besides a number of support systems - including legal help, single-point registration, simplified regulatory regime, fast-track filing of patents, tax exemption and mentorship programmes - will be set up for this, the Prime  Minister has said.
