Karnataka crisis: BJP leaders to meet President today to seek Governor's recall

New Delhi: The battle between Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyrurappa and Governor HR Bhardwaj is now being fully fought in the national capital. Top BJP leaders will be meeting President Pratibha Patil on Monday to demand the recall of the Governor.

Late on Friday evening Bhardwaj had sanctioned the prosecution of the Chief Minister on corruption charges.

Yeddyurappa was in Delhi on Sunday to meet with party leaders to chalk out the strategy.

"I want to meet Mr Chidambaram and explain all the things... it's an insult to the people of Karnataka, to the Chief Minister, to the democratic system. This is not the first time Mr Bhardwaj is doing like this. As soon as he became the Governor of Karnataka, he started this. He may be representing Congress even today; he wants the BJP should go and Congress should come to the rule," Yeddyurappa said while speaking to reporters at the airport. After arriving in the national capital, Mr Yeddyurappa met the party leaders. After the meet, he said, "Tomorrow by 11:45 am, my MPs and national leaders will meet the President on what all is happening in Karnataka and the attitude of the Governor."

The Chief Minister said he would not file a case in the Karnataka High Court questioning the Governor's decision to give sanction for his prosecution.

In Karnataka, a Raj Bhavan chalo agitation is planned for Tuesday - the BJP had already called for a bandh on Saturday against the Governor's decision - which effectively shut down the state for a day.
